A group of Bengalureans has come together based on their shared passion for food. Food has a unique ability to unite people, especially in a diverse city like Bengaluru where food enthusiasts have abundant dining choices. The Dastarkhwan Club, a community focused on food, organizes meet-ups where members explore local food joints and forge lasting friendships.

According to co-founder Akash Devaraju, the community's connection is more than just about food; it reflects a diverse mix of interests grounded in a shared love for culinary experiences. Member Tharini Thakur emphasizes that the community is a blend of various interests, all connected through a mutual appreciation for food. Their group has grown significantly, with over 60 members in their WhatsApp group and more than 600 pending RSVPs for their events.

The idea for the community stemmed from a gathering where friends enjoyed an Iftaar meal together. Impressed by the sense of togetherness food brought, they decided to organize regular meet-ups. As Akash explains, the name "Dastarkhwan" was inspired by one of their outings.

Member Abhishek Gupta highlights his experience with the community, commenting on the personal and engaging nature of their sessions compared to other group interactions. He describes the experience as both a learning opportunity and a chance to connect with history through shared culinary experiences."We visited someone's home in Kashmir and gained valuable insights into their culture and way of life," he explains. Meghna chimes in, saying, "I appreciate the unique nature of each event and the effort put into its planning. It's great to have someone from the culture present to explain things to us." The experience of communal dining involves various activities: Rozana involves visiting a restaurant where the owner shares the culinary history, Safarnama features food walks exploring different cuisines, and Mehfil invites people to homes to experience diverse cultures firsthand.
